This is the 9th installment in my zodiac series. I had originally planned to have this series done last year, but I couldn't force it.
I am happy to have gotten this far, I rarely stick to the themes I strike out on. I have dreams of making multi piece collections and end up distracted on my next adventure after the first piece. I have really struggled with this series and my style is changing slightly as I complete it. It is interesting to see.
This year has really called my attention to the fact that I do not paint many women of color. I never saw my characters as a race, but I also am a white person drawing what look like white women regardless of my intent or perception. It has been my goal to be more inclusive and expand with skin tones and facial features. I felt uncomfortable at first because I did not want to do something wrong. A friend of mine who is also an artist gave me the nugget of wisdom of trying is better than not. So Here I grow.
Through the process you see her becoming more of her warrior self.
